When I first started selling the Gratitude & Glimmers journals, I got a few questions from people asking what glimmers are all about. So today, I wanted to share where that idea came from. I once read that glimmers are kind of like the opposite of triggers—maybe they’re just little moments that spark positive feelings instead of negative ones.
To me, a glimmer is any small, unexpected thing that brings a bit of joy to my day. It could be something as simple as spotting a pretty flower on my walk, my next-door neighbor’s little girl getting excited when she sees me, or even a stranger complimenting my hair.
I had a really sweet glimmer happen recently. I was at the grocery store, minding my own business in the freezer aisle, when a young man walked up to me and asked if I remembered him. It took me a second, but then it hit me—it was my son’s best friend from elementary school! His family moved away in 3rd grade, and sadly, the boys lost touch after a few years.
He was always such a polite and kind kid, and I used to love having him and his little sister over. Seeing him all grown up was such a beautiful moment. He’s a senior in high school now, so handsome, and he even showed me pictures from homecoming—he has a girlfriend now! But I could still see that sweet little boy I knew all those years ago. What made it even more special was that this 17-year-old took the time to come over and say hi to me. I was so touched. Once I realized who he was, I told him I needed to give him a hug, and he let me! It was one of the best moments of my week.
I just wish my son had been there for it. He has so many great memories with his friend. I really hope they can reconnect soon—although I think they’re too old for me to arrange a playdate now! 😄 Still, it was such a beautiful glimmer and a reminder of how life moves so fast.
If we don’t slow down and appreciate the little moments, we might miss out on these kinds of encounters. So, I hope you keep your eyes open for the glimmers in your life too!
Wishing you health, wealth, and most of all... happiness!
Love,
