I experienced a moment recently that brought health and gratitude front and center for me. I was at a gas station, about to pump gas, when a tiny, fluffy white dog popped up on the other side of the pump and started barking at me! He was doing his absolute best to guard his owner, even though he was just this little puffball.
You know how much I love dogs, so I said hi to him, but he wasn’t having it—he was in full protector mode. Then his owner came around the corner, looking a little worn out, and apologized for his barking. I noticed she was wearing a head wrap, and it dawned on me that she might be recovering from cancer. I smiled and assured her it was totally fine, mentioning how brave her little guy was and that he was clearly watching over her, especially now.
When she smiled back, there was this quiet understanding between us. It hit me deeply that health is everything, and when we face something as tough as a serious illness, all those little day-to-day stresses just fade into the background. I stood there feeling so grateful for my own health, but also realizing how often I’ve let work or other “priorities” push it aside.
Meeting her was a gentle reminder that I needed to make my health a focus again—hydrating, moving, and simply being a bit kinder to myself. The calmness of fall and winter is such a perfect time to go inward and give ourselves the care we deserve.
Wishing you health, wealth, and most of all... happiness!
Love,
